Orthodontics

Interceptive braces are braces for children that guide their early teeth into correct positioning, preventing deeper dental problems if left untreated. Likewise, it can eliminate the need for braces later on. When your child is young the body is still growing which makes it easier to correct dental problems. A dentist can tell if Interceptive Orthodontics is right for your child by the age of seven. Interceptive braces are best used for dental crowding, gaps between the teeth, jaw growth issues, and extra or missing teeth

More and more adults are getting braces these days. It’s a smart health decision that results in a confident smile and more mouth mobility. There are many reasons adults are getting braces today and some of the top reasons include:

1) a bad bite,
2) spacing,
3) teeth crowding
4) tooth decay
5) gum disease
6) jaw pain and or pressure
7) teeth shifting
8) missing teeth.

Likewise, there are plenty of new options to reach the same results braces offer these days Make an appointment to figure out what option is right for you

Braces are brackets glued to the teeth and connected with wires to change the position of your teeth. Braces are used to align and straighten your teeth in relation to your bite, which will improve overall dental health.

Traditional Metal Braces:

Traditional metal braces are still made from metal but have improved from the ones you think of traditionally. They are now smaller and less noticeable than before. Additionally, the wires being used now are heat activated which helps the teeth move easier and with less pain. This is also the least expensive method for braces

Ceramic Braces:

Ceramic braces are very similar to traditional braces but are less noticeable because they use a clear material where traditional braces use metal. Ceramic braces are see-through traditional braces. They do cost more, but are less noticeable

Invisalgin does not use braces but uses aligners to straighten your teeth and are nearly invisible.
Invisalgin uses a clear (nearly invisible) plastic tray that surrounds your teeth to shift and straighten your smile. However, Invisalgin is more expensive than braces, and may not be a suitable option for some patients with severe misalignment Invisalgin is similar to a having a retainer but is simpler, completely clear, and much smaller. Likewise, you can eat and drink anything you want with Invisalgin unlike having a retainer. Invisalgin is removable and needs to be replaced every two weeks.

When your braces are removed, your teeth need to adjust into the soft tissue and jaw bone so that they stay in place. A retainer is designed to “retain” or keep your teeth in this position while this process is accomplished. Always wear it until directed otherwise to prevented all the hard work your braces accomplished from being wasted.
Here are some retainer guidelines:

1. Brush it daily with toothpaste and warm water to remove plaque and improve the smell;
2. Practice speaking and singing in it when you first get it to
become comfortable doing so; (it can be difficult at first)
3. Take it out when you are eating or swimming;
4. They can break, be careful;
5. Call us immediately if its lost;
6. Don’t adjust it, just bring it in, its important that the shape retains its desired form; and
7. Always bring it with you to dental appointments.

While retainers are expensive, so are fixing your teeth, so take care of it and it can last for years
